The Common Assessment Framework (CAF) and the Every Child Matters Agenda are the key legislative frameworks that underpin our assessment and intervention processes.
Children and Families are our paramount concern. Our services and programmes are designed to shape and promote parenting skills and parenting capacity. Our primary focus is the overall physical, social, emotional and behavioural development of babies and young children in family environment. Babies have a right to be cared for in a safe environment where they are able to thrive and meet their developmental milestones.
Our assessments focus on the early identification and management of risks; family/relationship dynamics; parenting capacity; environmental factors; support networks; building resilience and timely interventions. We offer residential, day and community based assessments and parenting programmes. We also offer specialist assessments of parents who have Learning Disabilities and Substance Misuse issues.
Typically our client group will already have social services involvement as a result of child protection concerns, risk of significant harm, family dysfunction, substance misuse, domestic abuse, neglect and/or sexual abuse.
Our intervention and support programmes comprise parenting skills training; individual/couple counselling; substance misuse counselling; life skills for self-development; baby massage.
The Orchard operates according to strict legislative procedures and robust screening and admission policies. We have a clearly defined Placement Plan which sets out the expectations of all parties, to which they are expected to adhere.
