Parenting Classes and Play Skills Training

Essentially, this programme is based on Social Learning Theory and offers a constructive, non-judgemental, one to one approach that looks at the interaction between the parent and child. Small group work can be undertaken to encourage parents to get into their child’s world through play and is designed to enhance the attachment process. The work can also be undertaken with parents who experience reactive/mild depression, alongside therapeutic support services to support their own emotional needs, through a transition period of re-learning.

The aim of the work is to encourage the natural development of positive behaviour, rather than resort to the use of corrective behaviour and more punitive disciplinary methods, as the child grows and becomes more independent.
